Introduction

"The road to Hell is paved with good intentions." ~ Samuel Johnson (1709-1784)

Welcome, and thank you for taking an interest in Good Intentions! We are an alliance-based guild on the Azjol-Nerub Server.

Guild Structure

The ranking system in Good Intentions consists of the following:

Guild Leader - Phalazar

Officer - Dirgen, Grimshade (Logistics Officer), Hyacinthe (Web/Forum Admin), Marza, Odir, and Relaeha (PM Officer).

Elder - A Veteran with the added privilege of inviting new members into the guild.

Veteran - A member who has been active in the guild for at least two months and has participated in the guild's endgame raids.

Member - A member guilded one month or more.

New Member - A member guilded less than one month.

Potential Member - Someone who is applying to the guild but is not yet a full member.

Please note that the actual names of these ranks may change at the guild leader's whim, but their meanings will remain consistant.

Rules of Conduct

Members are expected to behave in an honorable manner, to treat one another with courtesy and respect, and to display good social etiquette at all times. Failure to adhere to the following rules may lead to suspension or removal from the guild.

1. Harassment and discrimination of other players: Good Intentions does not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, religion, or sexual orientation. Please be aware that we have a very diverse membership, and that odds are the female character you're talking to actually is female. Measure your speech accordingly.

2. Foul language: Guild members are expected to communicate in a courteous manner. However, as we are an adult guild, occasional expletives and foul language will be expected and generally overlooked. Please exercise this privilege in moderation, however, and be aware that Blizzard strictly forbids it in public channels.

3. Adherance to EULA: Violation of Blizzard's policies will be grounds for immediate removal from the guild.

4. Drama: Good Intentions strives to promote a guild atmosphere of harmony and tolerance. Should an issue arise with another guild member, please do your best to resolve the issue privately between yourselves. If necessary, you may request that an officer intervene. Should you have a concern about guild policy, please feel welcome to confer with an officer at any time. Your feedback is always welcome and appreciated. Unresolved issues can be taken to the complaint stage as detailed in the revoking membership section of the charter.

5. Members may not have alliance characters in other guilds on our server (currently Azjol-Nerub).

Looting

Loot received during guild raids will be dispersed according to a "Need Before Greed" point system during GI exclusive raids and the SuicideKings looting system while on guild alliance raids in an effort to encourage and reward active participation. Loot received in solo and small group situations will be handled by the parties involved. Should you receive items that you don't need, we encourage you to consider donating them to the guild vault or directly to guild members who can use them.

Recruiting

Becoming a Potential Member (PM):

1. You must be level 50 to apply to GI. We are a raiding guild and we want you to be able to participate with us, if you are lower than 50 you will feel constantly left out - we want to include you! This level limit does not apply to anyone currently a PM who is lower level or family members and close friends of current members.

2. You must register for the forum boards and post your application via private message before you will be guilded as a potential member.

3. No alts are allowed in guild until you are a full member. We want to get to know you as the main character you will be playing for raids. The only exception to this rule is if someone has two characters that are either on two accounts or interchangeable for raids based on guild need.

4. You must either be 18 years of age or you must have a parent in the guild to play here with us. This is an adult guild and there may be language or chat that is inappropriate for younger members. Members who are parents can supervise their own child and any minor children of members can be guilded as alternates of the parent member.

5. The PM period is three weeks to one month. During this time you will get to know us we will get to know you. You must visit the raid board at least once a week and we ask you to raid and group with us. If we are raiding and you are doing a pick up group (PUG) somewhere we see this as lack on interest on your part. You must sign up for raids. It is your job to keep track of when and where we are raiding - so before you log in check the boards and if you can play sign up!

6. Entrance to the guild will be decided by an officer vote. While you are a PM all members have a chance to vote "no" if they see there are problems. One substantiated no vote and we will have to turn down your application.

Examples of substantiated no votes:
Focusing more on loot than on the guild.
Participation in raids only to benefit one's self.
Remaining in a pick up group when the guild needs you for something else.
Abusing other guild members.
Extreme personality conflicts (we need to be able to want to play with you).
Any ToS violations or any inappropriate chat in any general channel (this includes being caught swearing or being rude in yells/says or any open chat channel).
Lack of guild or forum participation.

7. We reserve the right to remove anyone within their month if they are not a good fit or they receive a substantiated no vote.

8. We are actively recruiting - you can get raid point bonuses for helping us recruit.

9. All PMs who raid with us are immediately put into our SuicideKings systems and may earn and spend points just like a full member.

10. We are looking for people who want to raid, we are not here to help you level, if you want to be a part of the guild we expect that you will do most of your leveling on your own and get groups your level for instances so you can learn how to play your character in raid situations. Sometimes this will be with other guild members sometimes not. If you want to do guild only instance runs you will need to post it on the quest help forum and get others to go with you.

11. CTRaidAssist, CT_RABossMods and Group Calendar are required - please see the Raid board for a link to download these!

12. Above all - have fun and join us because your goals are our goals, when we win as a guild all the members also win.

Criteria for Denial of Membership:

1. One "no" vote, justified by a guild member to the guild officers while you are in PM status, or explanation posted on the voting thread. (N.B. - This needs to be a valid reason - "I don't like him" shouldn't be acceptable - since personality differences are inevitable!)

2. Non-participation in guild activities or the forum boards.

3. Not withstanding of voting your PM membership can be terminated immediately for the following:
Poor representation of the guild in any public channel - not limited to but including, excessive swearing, threatening others, spamming, or violating any WoW public chat policy.
Any Violation of WoW Terms of Service (TOS).

Criteria for Revoking Membership:

1. If the officers receive 2 or more irresolvable complaints (from different members) about your behavior you may be considered for withdraw of membership privileges.

2. Complaints received (by an officer only) are posted on the officer board for discussion and voting to either:
Counsel the member, with the right to put on probation if any further complaints are received.
Counsel the member and place them on one-month probation with warning. Any further incidents or complaints (by different members than those originally filing a complaint) in the month and you will asked to be leave.
Immediately remove the member if the issue violates any of the guild rules of conduct. Officers are also allowed to remove people immediately with no warning for violation of the rules of conduct as stated in the charter.

3. The member is contacted and advised of the situation by an officer.

4. If the complaints appear to be invalid or the member in question has a good reason for actions/behavior, the situation will be resolved without warnings/probation or any other actions taken. This is to prevent simple misunderstandings, which can easily happen – we give everyone the benefit of the doubt in complaint situations and we will do everything to resolve all conflict diplomatically and peacefully.

5. These proceedings will be kept between the officers and the members involved to avoid drama and hurt feelings.
